Today at about 3:45 or so....A chemical plant called Formosa exploded. two large tanks were heard around the areas. Driving home...It was so unreal to see a large Mushroom cloud or black smoke high in the sky. We were told that there was an evacuation but a cold front blew thru and pushed the smoke to the gulf. Pretty scary crap.
Here is a vid of the aftermath.

When I was a young child, living in LA we had a chemical plant go KABOOM as well and it was at night.
I was outside playing hide and seek in the dark and I was it. I was leaning against the fence counting when all the sudden BOOOOOOOM!!!! The ground shook like it was an earthquake, and my cousins all screamed and ran inside.
I stepped back to see over the fence and I saw this HUGE mushroom cloud! I had recently seen some documentaries about NUCLEAR WEAPONS and I nearly shit my pants! I thought we were being bombed!
IF I remember correctly not one of us had "dry" pants at that moment.
only 1 person was killed (thankfully, it could have been worse) and you could see the fire (or the glow of it) all around the LA Basin all night, and the smoke WELL into the next few days.
VERY SCARY.
